The TLX is a full-size luxury sedan from the house of Acura, which was first launched in the year 2014. The Acura TLX was first exhibited as the TLX prototype, which was meant to be a sedan that will replace the outgoing Acura TL and TSX sedans.
When first launched in 2015, the TLX had two powertrain options to choose from – a 2.4L inline-4 DOHC i-VTEC engine and a 3.5L direct-injected V6 engine. The Acura TLX hosted a plethora of avant-garde features such as Precision All-Wheel Steer (P-AWS), cylinder deactivation, and a ZF sourced transmission. Moreover, this vehicle was mated to a Honda-designed dual-clutch transmission. This arrangement was the first DCT that used a torque-converter.
The Acura TLX soon became a mass-accepted vehicle, as this car was a handsome set of wheels, inside-out. The Acura TLX was a sedan that offered a plush ride quality, strong performance, and epic frugality, and that too at a pretty humble price-tag.
The Acura TLX underwent a facelift in the model year 2018, where certain cosmetic tweaks were introduced to the front and rear fascia. he infotainment panel also witnessed an update, with the loading of the latest phone integration features. Other features that were included in this update were 360-degree surround camera, and power driver’s seat thigh extension. The currently outgoing model happens to be the same as this facelift.
No mechanical changes were made to the TLX, as the ride still has 2 engine options on offer. A 2.4-Liter turbocharged 4-cylinders engine, which produces a generous 206 horsepower and peak torque of 182 pound-feet. The second option, which happens to be a 3.5L naturally aspirated V6, belts out 290 horses along with 267 lb.-ft. Of torque.
